Things to Do

What are the calmest things to do in Dubai?

One of them is 90 minutes with the horses at Crystalline Equine, in the desert about 20 minutes from Downtown Dubai. Two or three horses are with you, everything happens on the ground with no riding, and it ends with refreshments and company rather than a rush back to the car.

The horses set the pace, which is the point

Horses are highly sensitive herd animals. Many guests find that simply being in their presence helps them slow down, breathe a little easier, and let the day’s tension fall away. Two or three calm horses are with you for a session, close enough to meet, feed and settle beside. Nothing about it is hurried, and nobody needs any previous experience with horses.

Ninety minutes, and most of it is not the class

You arrive at the time the listing shows and begin with time socialising, feeding and petting the horses. You meet your instructor. Then the ground-based class, which might be yoga, pilates, mat work, guided meditation or crystal singing bowls depending on the date. Then refreshments and the community social. Groups are capped at 15 people, so it stays quiet.

When to come, and what it costs

The season runs October through May, when the desert is comfortable; we pause for the summer to rest the horses from the Dubai heat. Classes sit at either end of the day, including sunset. Group experiences are AED 199 per person, mats and equipment are provided, and every date on the schedule shows its own price, start and finish time and remaining seats.
